3 Years of Twirls!!!

Last week Heal'n Hoop Water Weighted Hula Hoops celebrated three years of operation and we took it back to where it all began - Anacostia Park! June 14, 2013 signifies the day that the thought came full circle. With three years of building, learning and growing - we are looking forward to an exceptional three more years and beyond!

We had an amazing time in the park engaging with invited guests, customers, and people passing by. All in the name of celebrating and saying THANK YOU for your support! With many health and wellness program initiatives to choose from, Heal'n Hoop is proud to be included as an alternative fitness regimen.

Attendees were kept moving with not only hip thrusting hula hooping; they also put their feet to work jumping rope, and skating. Of course there were friendly competitions and prizes. Congrats to our winner Janeane!!!

The park is symbolic as it is where the idea to start making the hula hoops was initiated. Over the past three years, Heal'n Hoop has sold hundreds of hula hoops and participated in many notable - exclusive, public, and community events in the DC Metro area. We've presented on the main stage at NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo and An Earthly Embrace's Purple Laces 5K . We have showcased at Ashley Stewart, Tots to Teens Expo, Art All Night, and the Art of Peace Community Festival just to name a few.

We've been featured in The Washington Informer and East of the River Magazine. Our most prestigious representation was hosted on the South Lawn of the White House. Brand Ambassador Bombe' attended South by South Lawn (SXSL) with former President Barack Obama and others, where creative thinkers and entrepreneurs were assembled for a discussion on civic engagement. How cool is that!

However, it is our commitment to serving the community that has been our greatest accomplishment to date. Heal'n Hoop is dedicated to the health and wellness of the people that we serve; primarily Wards 7 and 8 of Washington, DC. The two wards East of the River (EoTR) have the highest health, financial, and housing disparities in the city. Through partnerships and volunteering; we have provided instructional hula hoop classes at Calvary Women's Services which offers housing, health, education and empowerment programs that empower homeless women in DC to change their lives.

We have also collaborated with community group One Love = True Change for their aftercare program at Wheeler Terrace Apartments in Southeast DC. We've presented at Somerset Preparatory Academy Charter DC PCS for Career Day, and various activities with local non-profit Momma's Safe Haven.

Our mission is to change the perception of fitness. It's not just about selling the hula hoops for us. We want people to actually get moving and use them along with eating healthy. Hula hooping can be done inside and outside so it's no reason that you can't get a few twirls in while watching your favorite TV show. You can even make it a family affair since hula hooping is an activity that can be enjoyed by men, women, and children alike. Beyond the health benefits of relieving stress, easing bowel movement, and toning your body - it's a great way to bond and encourage a healthy lifestyle for the entire family.

No matter your fitness level, just remember -Fitness IS Fun! A special THANK YOU goes out to our long time support organizations Tina's Baby and Tastefully Yours Gourmet Your Way for making '3 Years of Twirls' a Happy HOOPITY Day! We can't wait to see you next year!
